Santa’s Helpers

The Holidays are fast coming upon us.  We, your friends at Danny’s Shoes, are once again taking on a special challenge. That challenge is to make Christmas a wonderful time for the children in need that our foundation has adopted.  As our main fundraiser we will present the 2nd Annual “Dinner and Casino Night” Event.  We hope that all of you can attend.

Last year our goal was to provide Christmas toys and cheer to 100 children.  We began this journey by meeting with the staff at “Five Acres.”  Five Acres is a home for children that have been abused and are in the “system.”  Five Acres helps these children rehabilitate and find a safe home.  We were honored to help them.  During their Christmas celebration, Santa arrived with his elves and gave 102 children the toys they had requested.  The children were filled with Christmas cheer.

Next we helped the “G.L.A.S.S.”  organization make Christmas dreams come true.  The G.L.A.S.S. organization provides homes and services for homeless teens in a non-judgmental environment.  44 teens received the gifts they requested.  We also provided one group home with their dream of a ping-pong table with all the extras.

We then helped families that did not have the funds to celebrate Christmas. St. Anne’s Catholic Church of Santa Monica provided us with five families that included 10 children.  The families received loads of Christmas food.  The children also received the toys that they requested from Santa.

Finally, we contacted staff at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church of North Hills.  They drove us to the homes of five families that did not have the funds for a joyful Christmas.  We provided 12 children with toys and every family was given a sleigh full of food.

Ho Ho Ho! That’s 168 children and 10 households served by our foundation.  By “our” we’re including all of you who helped by giving donations or attending our “Dinner and Casino Night” Event.

With the addition of visionaries Julio and Alicia Sandoval, Enrique Cadena, and Ted Galvan Jr. - plus the help of loving family and friends, Danny’s Shoes Foundation will continue to touch many more lives.
